Abstract submission

One page abstracts (150-300 word) should be prepared on 8 1/2" x 11" (or A4) paper with 1" (24 mm) margins. All text including title and figures (if any) should fit within these margins. Use 12 point Times New Roman single spaced type for the main body of the text, 14 point for the title. Your abstract should include the title, list of authors, affiliations with addresses, including email for the speaker, and the text, in that order. The name of the speaker should be underlined. Keep in mind if including figures that abstracts will likely be printed in black and white, not color. We prefer that you prepare your abstract in Microsoft Word format. Submit the file as an attachment to an email addressed to: africamrs@gmail.com

Paper submission

Papers, encouraged but not required, are due at or prior to the conference opening date, December 11, 2011. The papers will be published according to MRS formatting. Please visit this website and follow the directions (or simply copy the template).

We prefer that you use Microsoft Word to prepare your document, as we may need to reformat. 

• Paper length (max): Invited Speakers — 12 pages; Contributed Oral or Poster Papers — 6 pages
• Page size: 8-1/2" x 11" (21.59 cm x 27.94 cm). Please do not use A4 paper! 
• Margins: top, bottom, left and right: all 1" (2.54 cm)
• Font: Times New Roman 12 point
• Page numbering: Do not use page numbering and do not otherwise insert page numbers.
• Text:  Text should be typed single-spaced. However, if the paper includes numerous superscripts or subscripts, 1-1/2 spacing may be used. Double spacing should only be used before and after headings and subheadings as shown in the example. No spaces should be placed between paragraphs but the leading word should be indented by .3 inches 
• Justification: Use left justification only.
• Figures: Embed figures into the text in a manner that will be explained in detail later on in this document. If you are using color figures, please verify that they are readable and clear when printed in black and white.
